Interior Painting Toronto

A great paint job is invisible – which sounds like a contradiction, but it’s the point. When painting is done well, you notice the colour, the light, the feeling of the room. You don’t notice the brush marks, the uneven coverage, or the place where the ceiling colour crept onto the wall. At The HandyForce, we paint walls, trim, ceilings, cabinets, staircases, and exteriors – and we use premium paint because anything cheaper simply doesn’t hold up to Toronto life.

More Than Just Walls

Ceiling and trim painting by The HandyForce in Toronto

Interior Walls, Ceilings, and Trim

A full interior paint job – walls, ceiling, and trim – is one of the most impactful renovations you can do for the cost. We handle the full scope: preparation, priming where needed, cutting in, rolling, and trim work. Clean lines where ceiling meets wall and where wall meets trim are what separate a professional paint job from a DIY one. We take our time on those edges.

Cabinet painting for kitchens and bathrooms done by The HandyForce in Toronto

Cabinet Painting

Painting kitchen or bathroom cabinets is one of the most requested services we get – and one of the most value-adding. New cabinet doors cost thousands. A proper paint job on existing cabinets – properly cleaned, sanded, primed, and painted in a durable finish – costs a fraction of that and can completely transform the look of a kitchen. We use the right primer and the right paint for cabinetry (not the same products as wall paint), which is what makes the finish last.

Worn stair treads full of nail holes and staple marks after carpet runner removal - Refinished and painted stair treads by The HandyForce in Toronto, nail holes filled, sanded smooth, and repainted to like-new condition

Staircase Painting and Refinishing

Staircases get more foot traffic per square inch than any other surface in a home. Stair risers, handrails, and spindles that are painted need the right preparation and a durable finish to hold up. We paint staircases regularly – and for clients whose stair treads have been uncovered from under an old carpet runner and need refinishing before painting, we handle that too (see our flooring page for stair tread repair).

Accent wall painting by The HandyForce in Toronto

Accent Walls and Feature Painting

An accent wall done well is a design statement. An accent wall done badly is a distraction. The difference is almost entirely in the edge work – how clean and straight the colour transition is, especially when the geometry of the space makes access difficult.

Stairs painted by The HandyForce in Toronto

Real project:

A client had a white wall alongside her floating staircase that she wanted painted a vibrant blue mixed with pure white – a two-tone treatment that required a perfectly level, perfectly straight colour transition along the edge of the stair treads and wall. The result is a clean, architectural-looking feature that photographs beautifully and looks intentional in the best way.

Exterior painting and window frame painting in Toronto by The HandyForce

Exterior Painting

We paint exterior walls, soffits, fascia, window frames, garage doors, deck and fences. One of the most common exterior painting requests in Toronto is wood window frames – older homes with original wood frames that are peeling, cracking, or chalking. We clean, sand, prime, and repaint to a fresh finish that protects the wood and restores the appearance. Done properly, an exterior paint job on wood windows adds years to the frame’s life.

Fence and deck painting in Toronto by The HandyForce

Deck and Fence Staining

Decks and fences are exposed to everything Toronto weather can throw at them – UV, freeze-thaw cycles, moisture, salt from winter shoes. An unprotected wood deck greys and cracks within a few seasons. We sand, clean, and apply penetrating stain or semi-transparent finish to protect the wood and bring out the grain. We do this as a standalone service or as part of a larger exterior or deck renovation.

The Paint We Use - and Why It Matters

We prefer Sherwin Williams for most interior and exterior applications – the quality and consistency of coverage is better than most alternatives at similar price points, and it holds colour and sheen over time. For clients who specifically want Benjamin Moore, we’re equally comfortable with their product line – it’s another premium paint that performs well. If budget is a concern, Behr is a solid mid-range option.

We don’t use cheap paint. Here’s the honest reason: the difference in material cost between a budget paint and a premium one is relatively small. The difference in coverage, durability, and how it looks after two or three years is significant. We stand behind our work – and we can’t do that if the paint fails in eighteen months. It’s simply not the place to cut corners.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes – walls, trim, ceilings, cabinets, staircases, exterior walls, window frames, soffits, fascia, decks, and fences. If it’s a painted or stained surface, we handle it.

Sherwin Williams is our first choice for quality and consistency. Benjamin Moore is our other preferred premium option. For budget-conscious projects, Behr performs reliably at a lower price point. We advise against anything cheaper – the coverage and durability simply aren’t there, and it shows within a few years.

Yes – and it’s one of the best value-for-money renovations you can do to a kitchen. The key is proper preparation: the cabinet surfaces need to be cleaned, degreased, lightly sanded, and primed with an appropriate bonding primer before paint goes on. We use a finish-grade paint designed for cabinetry – not wall paint – which is harder and more resistant to the cleaning and contact that kitchen cabinets take every day.

A standard-size room – walls, ceiling, trim – typically takes one to two days depending on the condition of the surfaces and how many coats are needed. A full house interior is usually a week to ten days. We’ll give you a day-by-day timeline in the quote so you can plan around it.

We can advise – our team has a strong practical sense of what works in specific light conditions, room sizes, and alongside existing materials. For a formal colour consultation, we recommend engaging a dedicated interior designer, but we’re happy to share our experience and flag anything we think will be a problem before the paint goes on.

Yes – this is a very common request in Toronto’s older homes. Original wood window frames that are peeling or cracking aren’t necessarily at the end of their life – they just need proper attention. We clean, sand, fill any cracks, prime, and repaint. Done properly, it protects the wood and buys the frames many more years. Far more cost-effective than window replacement for frames that are structurally sound.
