A Show Stopper
The brief was unambiguous: this client wanted a kitchen that was exceptional in every respect. No budget constraints. No compromises. The existing kitchen was large – high ceilings reaching twelve feet – and the renovation was designed to make the most of every inch of that volume.
The cabinet design was the foundation of everything. A two-tone approach: charcoal matte upper cabinets with a dramatic coffered ceiling detail above the range area, and white lower cabinets that keep the overall palette light. A natural wood accent panel on the range hood adds warmth and texture against the cooler tones. Glass-front upper cabinets on the right wall, with interior lighting, display the space as much as they store it. Custom floating shelves in natural wood on the left wall – matching the range hood accent – create an architectural moment that most kitchens simply don’t have.
The island is the centrepiece. Four feet by eight feet of waterfall quartz – the stone surface wrapping continuously from the countertop down both ends to the floor, with no visible seam at the corner. The effect is sculptural. Chrome bar stools line one side. A dramatic pendant chandelier hangs above it from the high ceiling.
And Also Functional
The backsplash is marble herringbone, running behind both the main cooking wall and the perimeter counters, with under-cabinet LED strip lighting illuminating it from above. Double wall ovens. Professional gas range. Panel-ready dishwasher. Every appliance integrated into the design rather than added to it.
Structural changes and certain electrical work require a building permit from the City of Toronto. We manage permit applications as part of every relevant project.
Our kitchen designer worked through multiple rounds of the 3D cabinet layout with the client before a single piece of millwork went into production. The floating shelves were custom-built and hand-finished to match the natural wood tones of the range hood accent. Nothing in this kitchen came off a shelf. Everything was considered, specified, and built to be exactly what it is.
