Rosedale is one of Toronto’s most distinguished residential neighbourhoods – a community of large, beautifully maintained homes set among mature trees and quiet ravine-adjacent streets. The homes here are substantial, often historic, and owned by people who care deeply about how they live and invest seriously in making that happen. When a Rosedale homeowner decides to renovate, they’re not looking for the cheapest contractor. They’re looking for the right one.
Our East York office on Woodbine Ave serves Rosedale and the surrounding neighbourhoods. We bring the same fixed-price process, dedicated project management, and one-year workmanship guarantee that we apply to every project – with the additional experience and attention that high-end homes specifically require.
Rosedale’s housing stock spans several eras – grand Edwardian and Victorian homes on the larger lots, interwar Arts and Crafts houses, and mid-century builds, all sitting alongside the occasional contemporary new build. What they share is scale, quality of original construction, and homeowners who have high expectations – as they should.
Renovation work in Rosedale often involves spaces and scopes that most contractors in Toronto simply don’t encounter regularly. Basements large enough to become genuinely functional secondary living spaces. Kitchens that can accommodate a full professional-grade setup. Bathrooms that can hold a steam shower and a sauna. We’ve done all of it here.
Sometimes a renovation is about more than a room. A Rosedale homeowner had a health scare that prompted a complete reassessment of how she lived. She committed fully – a nutritionist, a personal trainer, a whole new approach to her health. What she needed was an environment at home that supported that commitment every single day. She called us to build it.
The project carved approximately 500 square feet of basement space into a dedicated home gym. The specification was thorough and uncompromising. Dense commercial-grade foam flooring – the kind used in professional gym facilities – went down first, providing the right surface for heavy training while protecting the concrete beneath. The walls and ceiling were fully soundproofed, so early morning sessions or late evening workouts wouldn’t carry through the house. New dedicated lighting was designed specifically for a training environment – bright, even, with no shadows.
A new wall with a solid-core door separated the gym from the rest of the basement, creating a defined space that feels intentional and professional rather than improvised. Mirrored walls – full height – went in on two sides. A ductless mini-split unit was installed to keep the space cool during hard sessions and the air fresh year-round. A space that gets used hard generates heat; the mini-split handles it efficiently without connecting to the home’s existing ductwork.
Ductless mini-split systems in Ontario must be installed in compliance with the Ontario Building Code and by a licensed HVAC technician. We coordinate licensed installation as part of every project.
Adjacent to the gym, the existing basement bathroom was converted into a proper recovery space. The shower was upgraded to a steam shower. A sauna was built. The combination – train hard, recover properly – was the entire point.
The result is a dedicated wellness space that most personal training studios in Toronto would envy. Built into the basement of her own home. Available every day, at any hour, on her schedule. That’s what she asked for, and that’s what we built.
Rosedale basements are often large enough to become genuinely functional spaces – home gyms, wine cellars, home theatres, guest suites, or full secondary living areas. We handle the full scope: soundproofing, specialty flooring, dedicated HVAC, custom lighting, framing, drywall, and all the finishing trades. See our basement renovation page for how we approach the full process.
Rosedale kitchens are often large, often already well-appointed, and require a level of design and material sourcing that goes beyond a standard renovation. We work with dedicated kitchen designers, source from premium millwork partners, and coordinate high-end appliance installation. Custom cabinetry, professional-grade appliances, statement stone – we’ve done it at this level. See our kitchen renovation page.
Steam showers, saunas, heated floors, large-format natural stone, custom vanities – bathroom renovations in Rosedale often involve a level of specification that requires both design sensitivity and technical skill. We handle the plumbing, tiling, electrical, and finishing as a complete, coordinated project. See our bathroom renovation and tiling pages.
Ductless mini-split HVAC for dedicated spaces. Soundproofing assemblies – SONOpan, resilient channels, Green Glue. Gym flooring. Home theatre installations. Sauna construction. These are the kinds of projects that require a contractor who has actually done them before. We have.
For smaller jobs – a repair, a fixture replacement, an installation – our handyman services team is available without the overhead of a full renovation quote.
