It terminated behind the drywall in the basement wall, pumping hot, moist air directly into the wall cavity. By the time he called us, there was moisture damage to deal with as well as the vent itself to sort out.
The vent needed to run to the front of the house – but the front was covered by a porch, with no obvious way to get the duct through and out. We created access to the underside of the porch from the side, ran the new duct through, and rather than leaving an awkward access hole, we built a proper door into the side of the porch – functional, finished, and completely intentional-looking. First we repaired the moisture-damaged drywall in the basement, then we completed the new duct run, then we finished the porch access with a proper door.
